Yoga Retreat – Lake District

This opportunity is ideal to begin/improve your practice, feel re-energised, explore yourself holistically and be guided by an experienced practitioner and teacher, Martyn Blacklock, who will share with you the wonderful benefits of Hatha Raja yoga and Person Centered counselling.

Yoga becomes a more holistic practice when we join the familiar postures of hatha yoga with the meditative practices of raja yoga. Martyn will guide you through subtle breathing practices to calm the mind, invigorate the body, as well as stimulate the spirit. The physical practice stretches, tones and strengthens the entire physical body with a particular focus on opening the front of the body, often restricted by modern lifestyles where we sit down more than we used to. After all that effort you will experience a final guided meditation in deep relaxation to recharge and rejuvenate the entire physical and mental system. The practice is appropriate for students of all levels, from beginner to lifelong practitioners and accessible to so many because it meets each student where they are and according to their condition.

Additionally, Martyn is a trained Person Centred counsellor and will offer one group therapy session per day to allow space for individuals to better understand themselves in the context of their relationships. From here we can all make more informed, healthy, and adaptive choices based on a deeper awareness of feelings, interpersonal behaviours, reactions and patterns. Counselling is a perfect complement to the self exploration offered by yoga. The therapy acts as a springboard to allow deeper connections with the group and we will be encouraged to respect each other and work together to ensure you have the healing experience you need. There is no pressure to use the group in this way and you can have a more individual experience if this is what you need.

You will be received with acceptance, warmth, genuineness and empathy: wherever you are on your personal journey is just where you need to be; all activities are optional and there is a deep recognition that this is your experience and you will know what you need to do to get the most out of it. We will have lots of fun too!!
